Social Activity Class For Seasonal Migrant Workers Children
University students in collaboration with Olam Progida constructed a ‘Social Activity Class’ for children of seasonal agricultural workers and farmers from Kirazlı Village of West Black Se Region. One purpose of the library, which will be available outside of school hours as well, is to keep children away from substance abuse.
Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Bi’Soluk Social Responsibility Club students and Olam Progıda who is Turkey's leading hazelnut export company, constructed a "Social Activity Class" in Kirazli First and Middle School for children. Volunteer university students renewed a class in the school and turned it into a computerized library. The “Social Activity Class" created for the students of the school and the children of seasonal agricultural workers coming to the region during the hazelnut harvest. The new class will expand the imagination of children by making the educational activities more functional at many points. The Governor of Kocaali district Emre Nebioğlu, officials from the Directorate of National Education, Olam Progida Management, school administrators and parents of students attended the opening ceremony.
The goal is to socialize children at school and keep them away from substance abuse
University students did "Social Activity Class" the 14 computers, various intelligence development games and books for Kirazlı School students. The project, which aims to make children like education and keep them away from substance abuse, will be open for use outside school hours too. Summer school project for the children of seasonal agricultural workers coming to Kocaali District is underway where is a total of 160 students in the school period are provided with education. In this way, the children of seasonal agricultural workers who migrate with their families for 7 months of the year will complete their education which is incomplete in both academic terms in summer school and contribute to their social development through social activities at school.
Dedicated to the deceased teacher Mr. Beytullah Keskin
The members of Bahçeşehir University Bi’Soluk Social Responsibility Club had previously did a Computerized Library in Tunceli Malazgirt Akpazar Secondary School in memory of Özgecan Aslan who was a victim of violence against women in Turkey. This time, the Social Activity Class was dedicated to the memory of the deceased teacher Beytullah Keskin who worked in Kirazli School between 2011 and 2016, and who recently passed away due to a heart attack.
