Olam-Progıda & Good Agricultural Practises
Olam-Progıda Sustainability Department has been working for the Good Agricultural Practice Program since 2015. The Program is run in both East and Western Black Sea regions. We continue to work with farmers, who are in our hazelnut supply chain, to increase their farms’ productivity and quality by targeting sustainability and traceability in agriculture with increasing producer groups every day.
Farmers Benefit From Good Agricultural Practises
- Achieving integrated struggle and integrated agricultural methods for harmful insects and diseases.
- Helping farmer to get a qualified deal should be made with retailers in the competitive market conditions.
- Opportunity to benefit priority in receiving agricultural supports.
- It has the advantage of paying a lower interest rate up to 60% of bank loans.
- Farmers and producers will have safety and prosperity.
Activities Under The Good Agricultural Practises Program
- Conducting soil analysis for the individual farmers in order to advice for fertilizer usages.
- Supplying chemical medicinal cabinets for agricultural inputs (fertilizer, pesdicide, etc.)
- In order to act in case of spillage of agriculture pesticide and fertilizer in the storages supplying buckets, first aid kits, flashlight, broom and sand.
- Provide sign boards in case of accidents and emergency situations in farms and provide the necessary information at the farmers' meetings.
- Creating agricultural pesticides preparation areas in the villages.
- Installing chemical waste containers in village centers. Regularly disposing the containers with a licensed firm.
- Certification of farmers on “Eligibility for Pesticide Operation Certification” by the Provincial Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock.
- Supplying personal protective equipments and faming equipments such as masks, gloves, glasses, hats, overalls, scarf helmets, knives, files, hand saws and scythes to our farmers.
- Providing sign boards to farmers that contain contact information to the farm entrances, the last pesticide application and chemical agent and harvest and hygiene rules, working conditions, visitor safety and accident and emergency instructions.
- Supplying production recording ledger to the farmers in which the farmers will record their agricultural activities in the farm during the production season.
- Training farmers regularly every year on "Soil Analysis Taking, Pruning, Diseases and Harms, Harvesting and Storage and Good Social Practices".
- Conducting "Product Residue Analysis" in accredited labs.
- Ensuring the farmer gets the governmental financial incentive per decare under the Good Agricultural Practices Program.
